I apologise for my method of entry. I wold have used my chain saw, but ‘Cheryl’ is losing her bite.

Nemesis The Warlock: Here's Torquemada and Purity Turns the Tables

I’m blown away by Nemesis the Warlock: the Definitive Edition, Vols 1 and 2. My compliments to the publishers, Rebellion, and especially their designer Gemma Sheldrake for the truly inspired front and back covers.

Volume 2 is now on sale from the 2000AD store.

Such a Definitive Edition requires a Definitive Commentary, a companion piece for when you’re looking at the beautiful art by art-creator Kevin O’Neill and the other talented artists that followed him. So it’s time for The Secret History of Nemesis the Warlock, an episode by episode revelation of what really went on behind the scenes.

Episode 9 – ‘Here’s Torquemada!’

Some of the dialogue may be from the wrong characters in the opening sequence. Once again, page one was tough to read because John was barely telling the story, leaving it to the words alone to make sense of what was going on. But I did enjoy my sequence with Stuart’s mum, which was very funny and felt very real. Then John’s depiction of Big Mary was divine! And sooo disturbing!

The rest of the episode is also overly demanding on the reader, as Purity plans to betray Nemesis. It’s so hard to make out what is going on. Even so, I did enjoy Torquemada’s dialogue about Cheryl – his favourite chain saw!

I apologise for my method of entry. I wold have used my chain saw, but ‘Cheryl’ is losing her bite. I have despatched brother Mikron to the garden centre to find her replacement.
