Psychokiller Ep 2
I don’t recall Tony ever using the bone of a Belian to admonish some errant demon, but certainly similar instruments when some spirit got a little out of hand, as they do on occasion.
Pages 9-16
Morbus uses the thigh bone of a high priest to beat the demon back. You will note the conviction in these occult scenes. As I’ve related elsewhere, Tony is a practising Witch and I’ve witnessed some esoteric phenomena which would convince even the most hardened cynic. I don’t recall Tony ever using the bone of a Belian to admonish some errant demon, but certainly similar instruments when some spirit got a little out of hand, as they do on occasion. It’s clear from this sequence that Tony knows what he is talking about and hence why Morbus has a genuine air of authority. The Pink Floyd references are also wonderful and emphasise the tragic-comic tone of the story.
The séance scene is superbly rendered. Consider how many artists would illustrate it in a conventional way, so it would run the risk of being a dull talking heads scene. But Dave adds atmosphere and striking and original interpretations in every picture. This is the kind of scene that is regularly featured in teenage horror films (I just checked ‘10 Scariest Movie Séance Scenes’ on Youtube for confirmation). Dave’s depiction is in a similar style to The Changeling, The Others and Drag Me To Hell. Previously, schlock horror has rarely made the transition from film to comics and we hoped Psychokiller – with its textbook horror genre story and art – would be the pathfinder for many more to follow. Sadly it never happened.
Psychokiller is available from Amazon on Kindle and in paperback.
