Hey all you lovely people, Lisa here. Hope you’re all staying safe during these uncertain times.
I wanted to let you know that our first ever crowdfunder is in pre-launch! The campaign for Sha Vol 1: The Shadow One will kick off towards the end of October.
If you’re not familiar with Kickstarter (or crowdfunders in general), being in pre-launch means that we have a landing page where you can sign up to be notified as soon as we launch, so you don’t miss it.
There’s no commitment, and we don’t even know the details of anyone who signs up: Kickstarter holds your details and contacts everyone when we go live. So signing up doesn’t mean you have to eventually pledge support. Although of course we would love it if you did!
I’ve been thinking about how to publish Sha for years, and every six months or so, I would bring it up with Pat in one of our frequent publishing brainstorming sessions, and ask if there was some way to do it. It had to be done properly – beautifully, as befits a bande dessinée originally published in France in a handsome hard cover edition.
Finally, the planets are in alignment and the ducks are in a row: we’ve found a printer that can offer foiling, printed endpapers and a placeholder ribbon. We’ll have logistical support and expertise from The 77, and most importantly we have Sha artist and co-creator Olivier Ledroit on board.
So we can offer a deluxe bespoke hard cover edition, exclusive to Kickstarter, and a standard hard cover edition that will be available for sale once the campaign ends. We’ll also offer a digital edition.
Sha comprises three volumes of 48-plus pages per volume. The Kickstarter will be for volume 1, and there will be subsequent Kickstarters for volumes 2 and 3.
So here’s to our first Kickstarter, I hope it’s a success and we can bring Sha to a new audience!
Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!
No brainer Lisa.
I'm in for the deluxe version of Vol 1, 2 and 3... 😄
