I wrote this piece for Facebook back in 2016, to celebrate Kevin O’Neill’s achievements in the comics industry. You can read my obituary on Kevin here. Working on the black comedy novel Read Em And Weep with Kevin O’Neill, which deals, in a fictional way, with the origins of the Comics Revolution, including the creation of our version of 2000AD, I was suddenly struck by a somewhat uncomfortable thought. I hope I’m wrong in this, and – if so – perhaps some readers can put me right and I will be most happy to stand corrected.
Kev's two part interview (the 2000AD lockdown podcast, I think it's called, if anyone needs to google it) is brilliant, very funny, essential listening. Still reeling from the news. I am glad that Pat appears younger and fitter than me, and is so inspiringly youthful and fiery in spirit. Truly inspirational men. You should be Elon Musk-level, residing on Tracy Island-like mega-complexes such is the vitality of your influence. It feels like another win for the stifling forces of apathy and ... never mind 'that's life' - yes it is, that's why you never go up, go down spitting fire in the eyes of fools ... Frenzied, psycho love to you all
