It’s nice that you're taking the time to take a critical look at this series. In my country too, the established media are falling over themselves to declare it mandatory viewing. The similarities with your story is fascinating. It makes you think.
Ironically from what I've read recently, it looks like plain nicotine is healthier than caffeine!
460nm blue light is the body's activating frequency. Exposure to it after sunset totally screws up our circadian biochemical cycle. In the long term this chronically raises insulin and cortisol whilst devastating testosterone, estrogen, T3 thyroxine and Vitamin D levels. All manner of disease and dysfunctions spread from there....
Sunlight is the best medicine that nature has to offer. It charges up our bodies and is the start point of our circadian biochemical cycles. That of course depends on one being able to actually see the sun!
Thanks! Your thoughts inspired me to write a scene in Requiem where Thurim is destroying a cyber-warrior. AI is seen as a God who has turned generations into dopamine addicts. As the cyber-warrior dies he looks forward to the blue light…
I can only echo what Dennis has already articulated by thanking you for your analysis of this short series as part of your greater thread.
I must confess that I had to look up what the word "Incel" actually meant.
From my perspective, there is a glaring elephant in the room which nobody appears to be aware of or at least wishes to acknowledge with red herrings aplenty being provided in its stead.
The arguments about social media and their effects on adults and youngsters alike are neither here nor there. It is akin to trying to argue the difference between The Sun or The Guardian as newspapers that actually deliver the news that people need to hear. In reality, they're both mouthpieces for much bigger players in daily life than Joe Average, regardless of tribal persuasion.
The real issue, in my view, is the physical effect that the platforms on which people are consuming their social media on which are perniciously having on their physiologies and biochemistries.
Excessive exposure to blue light frequencies either from mobile displays, computer monitors, LED tvs, LEDS from light fitttings 24/7 is causing rampant disease of many types in the West, with the UK in particular suffering badly.
Adolescents and younger who are allowed to abuse mobile phones at all hours are especially affected, particularly because their central nervous systmens are not fully myelinated (insulated with fat) until their mid twenties. Want an explanation for the general docility, lack of libido, infertility, mood changes etc that societies are seeing, particularly in their young? There it is.
One of the effects of blue frequency light is that it gives an ongoing dopamine boost due to how endorphins are made in the brain. Guess what happens when tech abusers switch off their tech? They can't make their own dopamine. So they switch back on. They're hooked!
Couple this with changes in teaching methods which eschew paper and pen for flat screen and mobiles... hey presto! Generations of very different youngsters more susceptible to all manner of ills which can so easily be blamed on social media, for instance. This then leads to all the concerns which you've rightly highlighted in your posts.
Thanks, Daniel. The addictive nature of blue light screens does need to be better known. I wasn’t aware of it until you told me about that documentary highlighting its dangers. But when I googled it just now there’s reams on it.
I find myself scrolling on my phone first thing in the morning for excessive periods and I’m guessing it’s for the dopamine rush. I’ll stick to coffee from now on.
I’m guessing there’s going to be a backlash against it like smoking, but that could be decades away.
Pity Years and Years by Russel T Davies didn’t cover it. He had every other doom scenario.
If I get a chance I’ll put it in one of my stories.

Thanks, Dennis. There’s something strange and a little sinister going on. The writers are clearly Establishment directed.
It’s a pity because one of the writers is the author of Toxic Town, which is very good and shows no sign of Establishment interference.

That is such a cool twist on "seeing the bright light"! 😂😂😂😂
Brilliant Pat 👏👏👏👏👏
